Join the Professional Learning and Resource committee on May 11th for the webinar Beyond Participation: The Role of Research Steering Committees in Implementation Science with PLR Committee Member, Carlos Treichel.

This webinar will explore the role of Research Steering Committees as a strategy to enhance stakeholder engagement in implementation science. It will discuss how these committees can support the co-production of knowledge, strengthen governance processes, and improve the relevance, feasibility, and sustainability of implementation efforts. Drawing on empirical research and practical experiences, the session will highlight key challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for incorporating steering committees into implementation projects, particularly in the context of mental health services integration.

 

Speaker bio:

Carlos Alberto dos Santos Treichel is a Professor at the Department of Maternal-Child and Psychiatric Nursing at the School of Nursing, University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing from the Federal University of Pelotas and a PhD in Collective Health (Policy, Planning, and Management) from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He completed postdoctoral training at UNICAMP (FAPESP fellow, 2021–2023) and international research fellowships at the Centre for Implementation Science, King’s College London (2019, 2021). More recently, he served as Visiting Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine (2025–2026). He is a member of the Global Implementation Society and Associate Editor of the journal Global Implementation Research and Applications. His research focuses on the implementation of mental health policies and practices, particularly on integrating specialized services with primary care.
