Implementation as a professional discipline is growing and requires preparation of individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill the requirements of new positions in human service organizations and systems. The Global Implementation Education (GIE) fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among university and college professors, professional development experts, and implementation specialists in order to accomplish this purpose.
Implementation knowledge and expertise is spread thinly across the globe. By working together, world experts on a given topic can build the knowledge base by providing virtual lectures and courses that are widely accessible to practitioners, decision makers, and students, and can bring global expertise into their local classrooms and work environments. Implementation research provides strong evidence that training is not enough. Coaching is necessary to help develop and expand the use of complex skill sets. Individuals using the web based materials for self instruction are urged to link with a group that is doing world-class implementation practice, research, or policy work to expand their implementation knowledge, skills, and abilities. The GIE web pages are designed for those who are teaching implementation to others, and for those who are learning about implementation. The focus is on the practice and science of implementation, improvement, and scaling to assure socially significant benefits. GIE provides a web platform for educational resources and teaching materials in implementation science for both teachers and learners.
The curated resources have been categorized by Topic and Type. The resources can be used for self-study, by trainers and instructors, and for evaluation and research.
Many GIE resources are designed for self-study. To learn about implementation, select a topic and the type of information. For example, a topic might be “implementation team” and the type might be “video.” The video resources related to implementation team development and functions then would be listed. By clicking on a link, the selected video can be viewed.
Some GIE resources are designed for trainers, instructors, and professors who provide training and education related to implementation, improvement, and scaling. A topic of interest might be “introduction” and the type might be “course syllabus.” The various syllabi related to teaching an introduction to implementation would be listed.
Some GIE resources are related to evaluation and research. A topic might be “organization” and a type might be “implementation capacity.” The measures related to assessing implementation capacity in organizations would be listed.
