Saima Hamid

Dr. Saima Hamid, is a Professor of Public Health and Theme Lead for Global Health and Development in the Global Institute of Human Development at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), Islamabad. She also holds the position of Head of Community Medicine and Public Health Department of Shifa College of Medicine, STMU. As a former Vice-Chancellor, of Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, she has rich experience in policy making and upholding excellence in higher education. She additionallu held the charge of Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Women University. She completed her PhD from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. Her teaching and research experience encompasses Health Policy, Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Health systems, Implementation Science and Women empowerment and mentoring. She has led many research projects and published several research papers/articles in indexed scientific journals. She has initiated and consolidated various collaborations with various institutions and universities nationally and internationally. She has been a member of numerous organizations and working groups some examples include: Global Implementation Society (Board Member), Editorial Board, Guidelines on Learning Health Systems, WHO Evidence-informed Policy Network (EVIPNet), Public Health Association of Pakistan, Technical Working Group (TWG) of Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination on Maternal Child Health, Midwifery. She is also an office holder of several statutory bodies of higher education institutes in Pakistan and currently serves as a member on different committees of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.
